Webuild has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line and we are currently seeking a Site Safety Manager - Health and Safety This position is a full-time 100% onsite position in Toronto. Reports to: Construction H&S Manager Position Summary: PNC is initiating on-site work involving multiple subcontractors, creating a critical need for a dedicated Site Safety Manager. This role is essential to ensure that all safety standards are rigorously enforced and that the safety of all personnel, including subcontractors, is effectively managed throughout the project. Key Responsibilities: Safety Protocols Implementation: Develop, establish, and enforce comprehensive safety protocols to ensure full compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards on the construction site. Regularly update safety policies to align with changes in regulations or project needs. Subcontractor Safety Compliance: Oversee the safety practices of all subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to site-specific safety policies. Collect, review, and audit safety data from subcontractors to ensure compliance and to identify any areas of improvement. Conduct regular safety audits of subcontractors' practices and documentation to ensure adherence to established safety protocols. Incident Response and Reporting: Lead investigations into any safety incidents or near-misses, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of incidents. Training and Communication: Provide safety training and ongoing education to all site personnel, including subcontractors, to foster a culture of safety awareness. Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including subcontractors, management, and regulatory bodies, regarding safety practices and requirements. Safety Management System: Utilize industry-standard safety management software and tools to track and report safety metrics. Ensure that safety records are maintained accurately and are readily accessible for audits and inspections. Special Requirements: Experience in Heavy Civil Construction: Significant experience managing safety on heavy civil construction projects is required. Flexibility in Work Hours: Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by project demands. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with multiple stakeholders. Proficient in Safety Management Software: Familiarity with industry-standard safety management software and tools is necessary. Desired Qualifications: NCSO Certification: Must hold a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification or an OHS certification. COR Knowledge or ISO 45001 Experience: Experience with either COR (Certificate of Recognition) auditing or ISO 45001 standards is preferred. Transit Project Experience: Familiarity with Transit projects is required. Establishing procedure, developing and maintaining health and safety program management system Able to manage multiple work sites and health and safety coordinators to ensure compliance implementation within the organizations health and safety program Subcontractor Management: Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors effectively. Work Under Pressure: Ability to perform effectively under pressure and in high-stress situations. This role is crucial to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment as PNC embarks on this significant project, involving multiple subcontractors and complex construction activities. The Site Safety Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all safety standards are upheld, protecting the well-being of all site personnel.
