As the Architectural Advisor, you are responsible for overseeing the delivery of architectural services for various sub-projects within the House of Commons construction and renovation program. Your role involves providing expert architectural advice at every stage of the project, working closely with a team of professionals to ensure that each project meets its functional and design requirements, all while aligning with the broader Long-Term Vision and Plan (LTVP) for the Parliamentary Precinct. Your input helps shape the design direction and ensures that the projects contribute to the long-term goals of the precinct’s development. In this role, you will manage and coordinate the delivery of architectural services for several medium to large projects. You'll ensure that design guidelines, standards, and objectives are consistently applied, supporting other projects and programs. You’ll collaborate with a team of design and construction experts to track and report on all architectural activities throughout each project phase. Your work is crucial in delivering projects on time and within the Real Property project delivery framework. To excel, you'll need a deep understanding of architectural design, Canadian building codes, and construction, as well as strong planning and communication skills to keep the team aligned and projects running smoothly. In order to ensure seamless delivery of services and operations, you must be willing to work on-site five days a week. Work-life balance /35-hour workweek 4 weeks’ vacation (minimum) Qualifications Education : A post-secondary school degree in architecture OR acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience. Experience : Experience in architectural design and construction on a variety of complex projects; Experience interpreting and applying the Ontario (OBC) and National Building Code (NBC); Experience in providing professional advice and technical expertise to managers, clients and stakeholders; Experience in coordinating multiple disciplines, conflicting requirements and priorities; Experience in negotiating with multiple stakeholders; Experience in preparing and presenting professional presentations of complex technical information; Experience reviewing and documenting comments on complex project documents. Assets : Knowledge of dRofus, BIM, Revit; Experience in working on multi-disciplinary projects within the federal public sector; Experience in working on development of codes, standards and guidelines; Leadership or mentoring experience within architectural teams; Registered Architect in Ontario (active member of the OAA); Heritage conservation experience; Accessible design experience.
