EPC/Design-Build Remote Arctic Projects. Industrial Process Facilities. Institutional & Detention Facilities. Municipal & Government Infrastructure. Indigenous Affairs. Civil Infrastructure. The Director of Health and Safety will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs that align with regulatory requirements and best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of health and safety laws in British Columbia and across Canada, along with a proven track record in the industry. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with provincial and federal regulations. Monitor and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related legislation in British Columbia and Canada. Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are taken. Lead and manage the health and safety team, providing guidance and support to promote a culture of safety across the organization. Prepare and deliver training programs for staff on health and safety practices and compliance. Investigate incidents and accidents, compiling reports and presenting findings to management with recommendations for improvements. Liaise with external regulatory bodies, industry associations, and stakeholders to stay informed of industry trends and changes in legislation. Develop and manage the health and safety budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Foster a proactive approach to health and safety through communication, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. You are a designated Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior health and safety role, preferably in the construction, if applicable. Professional designations: Canadian Safety Officer (CSO) and National Safety Certificate Officer (NSCO) are required. In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices in British Columbia and Canada. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety programs that drive cultural change and compliance.
