What You’ll Do: Design, Development, and Testing Lead as a Design Responsible Engineer (DRE), setting high-quality standards for electronic subsystems and firmware. Mentor junior engineers, fostering growth and enhancing design capabilities. Drive firmware development lifecycle processes, maintaining cutting-edge development environments. Initiate process improvements for greater design efficiency and product quality. ️ Planning and Process Development Deliver projects on time by managing scope, setting deadlines, and providing updates. Oversee firmware development processes, ensuring adherence to design controls and regulations. Collaboration and Support Partner with internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless project execution. Work closely with Marketing and Sales to explore new business opportunities and develop strategic roadmaps for future products. ✅ Health and Safety Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. What You Bring: Education and Experience Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Software Engineering) or related field. 10 years of experience in electronics design, with a strong track record of bringing at least two products to market. Background in embedded systems design for commercial products, with experience in regulated industries (medical device preferred but open to other industries such as pharmaceutical, aerospace, automotive, etc.). Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) would be a plus but not required. Specialized Skills Expertise in electromagnetic compliance design and familiarity with IEC60601 or IEC62304 standards. Strong skills in PCB design, digital and analog electronics, and control theory. Proficiency in embedded firmware architecture development, modular programming, and firmware scheduling. Leadership experience in high-volume PCBA manufacturing and product development.
