Job Description

General Manager Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead their team in Ottawa. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in driving sales and profit growth, managing budgets, and leading a team towards achieving company objectives. The General Manager will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the company, ensuring a safe and productive working environment, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors. Location: Ottawa, ON. Hours: 7:30am - 4:30pm. Roles & Responsibilities: Budget Management: Accountable for managing the budget and ensuring effective purchasing procedures are in place and followed. Sales & Profit Growth: Focus on sales and profit growth by delegating inventory management and repair pricing to maximize sales opportunities. Team Alignment: Ensure that all personnel understand and work towards the overall company objectives and departmental goals. Resource Allocation: Provide staff with the necessary tools, knowledge, and information to perform effectively and meet client expectations. Health & Safety: Enforce safe working practices and implement necessary written safety procedures; serve as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any conflicting objectives while promoting respectful communication across departments. Hiring & Staffing: Collaborate with the HR team to ensure the hiring of the most qualified candidates for open positions. Supervision & Compliance: Supervise staff in line with organizational policies and applicable laws, ensuring compliance at all levels. Strategic Planning: Prepare and communicate annual, monthly, and weekly operational plans to ensure clarity of roles and objectives across the team. Collaboration: Work closely with other Branch Managers through bi-weekly meetings to ensure operations align with company standards. Equipment Management : Assess and recommend necessary equipment upgrades on an annual basis. Financial Oversight: Review and approve monthly invoices, ensuring effective inventory management and cost control. Business Development: Develop new business accounts while maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing customers and key vendors. Customer Service: Ensure a high standard of customer service, staying responsive to clients' needs in a professional and timely manner. Staff Development: Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to staff, while collaborating with training managers to implement relevant training programs. Management Reporting: Participate in quarterly owner meetings to discuss financial results and organizational goals. Payroll Oversight: Approve weekly timecards and manage payroll processes. Qualifications & Skills: Managerial Experience: Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in a similar role. Industry Experience : Experience in the HVAC, electrical, or construction industries is considered a must. Secret Clearance: Must be eligible and willing to obtain secret clearance. Leadership Skills: Proven experience in providing leadership, direction, and coaching to a diverse team. Health & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with health and safety regulations, with experience serving on safety committees. Client Management: Strong interpersonal skills with a history of managing key client relationships. Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to prepare, communicate, and execute strategic plans. Business Development: Experience in business development, sales growth, and maintaining vendor relationships.
