Senior Business Analyst (Contract) - Job#5005
Schedule: Houston, TX, Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday IN OFFICE)
Contract Duration: 12 Months +

Note: Only Business Analysts with prior requirements work will be considered for this role.

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience in developing functional and technical software requirements, data flows, and use cases in complex integration projects. Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD, AutoCAD, AutoDesk), GIS applications (ArcGIS), Reality Capture (Drone data collection systems), SCADA systems and industrial automation systems is preferred. Experience in Engineering applications, and in working with Engineers will be a differentiator.

Strong written and verbal communications skills are critical to the role. The candidate must be comfortable interacting with both software developers, Quality Assurance specialists, and senior stakeholders.

Superior Documentation skills and Organizational skills are paramount. Must have a driven, intellectual curiosity to understand and anticipate functional issues as systems are built and integrated. Selected hire will have significant business process change experience and functional command of systems integration efforts coupled with exceptional Use Case Development skills. With heavy documentation behind business process changes amidst the technical integration, the selected hire must have experience with project/process documentation and an ability to create a functional library of cross-referenced documents. The selected hire will have exceptional verbal & written communication skills, be comfortable interacting with Sr. Leaders in Business and Technology, and be proactive in eliciting information, probing for details, and foreseeing technical / stakeholder challenges before they occur. A mathematical or technical background will be helpful, as will experience in project management.

General Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with users to determine and document business and user requirements, process flow definitions, and functional specifications.
  • Responsible for document repositories, maintenance, and updates of project documentation library.
  • Create workflow diagrams and screen mockups
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Under minimal supervision, acts as a liaison between the technology and business groups in the development of new systems and enhancement of existing systems.
  • Conduct advanced level business process analysis, needs assessments and preliminary cost/benefit analysis to align technology solutions with business initiatives.
  • Leads project team with gaining business user acceptance.
  • Reviews progress and evaluates results for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Resolves issues arising from internal department functions, or as brought forth by internal or external customers to assigned department.
  • Tracks issues to resolution within department and in partnership with other groups.
  • Monitors overall workflow to ensure timely completion of projects and daily work requirements.
  • Work with Dev and testing teams to explain requirements, do sanity checks and review test cases
  • Write acceptance criteria for stories and defects
  • Work in our Houston office a minimum of 3 days per week, Tuesday through Thursday
Required Job Skills & Experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years acting as a business analyst in an applications development environment
  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline
  • A track record of hands-on production of requirements artifacts on successful IT projects.
Required:
Experience in all phases of a project development lifecycle in a fortune 1000 company working in a large, global team environment (> 5 team members)
  • Experience with AutoDesk/AutoCAD and ArcGIS!
  • CBAP or CCBA certification
  • Experience acting as a project lead and ability to work independently
  • Experience in a Quality Assurance role, or a role that closely interacts with QA
  • Training and training documentation development
  • Coding or software development background comprehension
  • Data analysis and/or database skills with MS SQL and/or Oracle comprehension
  • User interface/user experience design background comprehension
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
  • Attend discovery sessions
  • Work with development team on understanding product, review product, etc
  • BA will test to ensure requirements are met and written
  • Grade work flows
  • Self-starter. Someone who can work without supervision-they want to wind the candidate up and point him in the right direction
