Job Description
Under the supervision of the Geomatics and Information Assets Manager, the incumbent ensures the completion of geomatics projects related to the development of the Montreal Port Authority's (MPA) geomatics systems. They ensure that they understand the needs, establish implementation strategies, coordinate activities and ensure that the product or service meets user needs. They design web applications and interactive maps and actively participate in the geospatial data governance strategy. Ensure the completion and coordination of geomatics projects assigned to them Participate in the analysis and collection of business unit needs. Plan and coordinate the activities of internal and external resources assigned to projects with a view to respecting costs, deadlines and quality. Ensure the quality of deliverables and ensure that requirements are met. Contribute to the preparation of documents such as specifications, project definition documents, roadmaps, recommendation reports, detailed design documents and technical specifications. Support the implementation of proposed solutions and train end users. Facilitate workshops involving stakeholders from different sectors to understand their needs. Design and implement the development, deployment and maintenance strategy for enterprise geomatics systems Develop and maintain the company's current and future geomatics architecture (servers, databases, software, mobile equipment, etc.). Issue recommendations to ensure the evolution of tools and work processes according to identified needs. Collaborate in the design, development, testing and implementation of new tools to assist in the production of geospatial data and cartographic production assistance integrated into computer-aided design software, geographic information systems and geospatial database management systems. Develop, execute, maintain and manage geoprocessing scripts to automate data integration and validation processes. Write the documentation and diagrams necessary to understand the processes and their updates. Develop data analysis and sharing tools to facilitate decision-making Design and configure web applications, interactive or thematic maps and geographic information system (GIS) solutions. Participate in the management and dissemination of geospatial data as well as the support and training of users of geomatics applications. Process and analyze images (remote sensing, terrestrial photogrammetry, Lidar) and perform spatial analyses. Support and collaborate in the maintenance and implementation of geodetic benchmarks and GNSS reference bases . Ensure technological development applied to waterway management Participate in the processing and management of hydrographic and bathymetric data in collaboration with the APM maritime operations department. Participate in defining the geospatial data governance strategy Implement the processes necessary to ensure effective data management. Ensure the integrity of spatially referenced data by developing validation and automation processes. Participate in the drafting and implementation of standards and policies defining the geospatial data governance plan. Participate in technological monitoring and innovation in the field of geomatics Implement initiatives and projects aimed at the continuous improvement of geomatics processes. Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, carry out impact and needs analyses and issue recommendations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or geomatics sciences, environmental geomatics, DESS in geomatics or any other training deemed relevant; 7 to 10 years of relevant experience; Project management experience, an asset; Mastery of the ESRI product suite; Knowledge of FME tools or other ETL tools; Knowledge of JMap and AutoCad software (an asset); Operational experience with SQL, Python and/or VBScript and HTML programming languages; Mastery of the MS Office suite; Valid driver's license (class 5); Be focused on customer needs; Have excellent organizational skills, be autonomous and demonstrate initiative; Flexibility and good ability to adapt to change; Spoken and written bilingualism: French and English
