Intermediate Accountant/Accounting Analyst

Position: Accounting AnalystLocation: Downtown Toronto, on-site (5-days/week)Salary: $39 to $41 per hourJob Type: 6-week temporary contract with potential to extendThis excellent opportunity is perfect for someone with intermediate level of accounting experience looking to take the next step up in their career in a non-for-profit environment. The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including preparing journal entries, maintaining schedules, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and cost allocations for month-end closing; maintain fixed asset schedules.- Analyze and reconcile general ledger and bank accounts, addressing discrepancies and communicating with stakeholders.- Oversee accounts receivable, prepare billings for services, and balance sub-ledgers.- Prepare payment requisitions for payroll deductions.- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules.- Reconcile salary and wage advances monthly.- Prepare mandated reports for clients.- Support inventory management of gift cards.- Serve as custodian of cheques, stock storage, and restocking.- Assist with continuous process improvements and system updates.- Provide backup support to financial staff.- Assist with financial reporting for audits.- Follow health and safety policies, financial procedures, and organizational policies.- Ensure compliance with ethics, confidentiality, anti-oppression, and anti-racism policies.Qualifications:- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent, with a professional accounting designation.- Public sector/not for profit experience highly desired. - 3 years of Accounting or Financial Analyst experience.- Intermediate to Advanced Excel proficiency.- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).- CPA Designation or pursuing is considered an asset.
