Job Description
We are currently working with a well recognized client who has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Technical Accounting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The role entails providing guidance and support on technical accounting matters to ensure compliance with IFRS. The successful candidate will be expected to manage complex transactions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and stay updated with changes in regulatory requirements and industry practices.Responsibilities:-Implement new accounting standards and pronouncements under IFRS-Provide guidance on complex transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, revenue recognition, leasing, and financial instruments-Prepare and review technical accounting memoranda and position papers to ensure compliance with relevant standards-Collaborate with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting-Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures for consistency and compliance across the organization-Support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures and MD& A-Liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies to address technical accounting issues and ensure successful audits and reviews-Provide training and mentoring to finance team members on technical accounting topics and emerging issues-Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in technical accounting-Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting software-Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate technical accounting issues effectivelyQualifications:-Must hold a senior Financial Reporting position or similar for ideally 7 years or more-Must have a CPA Designation-Proficient in Auditing-Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS - Intl Financial Reporting Stds-Experience with IFRS Accounting-Familiarity with SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance-Ability to conduct Complex Financial Analysis-Experience with Company Revenue Recognition-Proficient in drafting Memoranda-Experience with Audit Compliance-Proven track record of Annual External Audit-Proficient in Financial Reporting-Understanding of Financial reporting standards-Advanced Microsoft Excel skills-Superior oral and written skills -Background in Big 4 Accounting is required-Experience with larger publicly traded companiesRelocation assistance is available Position comes with great benefits on top of salary plus bonus plus a defined contribution pension plan.
