Job Description
The position of ‘Quality Advisor – Delivery’ sits within SPT Projects, who are the engineering and construction arm for Scottish Power’s SPEN business. The role will be supporting large-scale CDM projects providing guidance and surveillance for a variety of internal & external QA/ QC compliance.
The project types range from the refurbishment of existing Substations and Overhead Lines to new-build Substations, OHLs and Underground Cable installation. The projects typically have disaggregated work packages with multiple contractors involved in delivering one project.
The role is hybrid working but will involve inspecting a number of sites (typically 2-3 per week) within the network area, which can be from Stirling/ Fife to Scottish Borders/ Dumfries & Galloway (mileage reimbursement is based upon the Cambuslang office location, G32 8FA).
1.1 ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand the scope of works in discussion with the SPT Projects Project Manager and review the Contractor’s Quality Management Plan and ITPs with associated Check Sheets.
• Attend the Project Kick-off Meeting to brief the contractors on SPT’s quality expectations
• Provide support and advice to project and office based staff to achieve compliance with internal and external quality management systems and industry best practices
• Attend project progress and coordination meetings where required to provide quality input or guidance.
• Visit sites on regular basis, frequency determined by risk, to carry out quality inspections ensuring QA & QC compliance is being maintained internally and externally.
• Manage and complete quality monitoring and inspection programs to effectively document operational performance, compliance and prepare timely reports required for both internal and external distribution
• Support project team to identify and solve quality nonconformities, manage incidents and follow up.
• Assist in ensuring handover documents are captured in a timely manner by conducting regular reviews
• Provide information to the Project Manager to support contractor review and Lessons Learned.
• Attend Monthly Quality Meetings providing progress updates for all allocated projects.
1.2 SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
• HND or Degree qualification preferably in a Civil Engineering or a Construction related subject
• Knowledge of QA / QC principles and their application to a project, suppliers and Contractors
• Working knowledge of Inspection & Tests Plans/ Check-Sheets for construction projects
• General understanding of ISO 9001
• Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts
• Supports a culture in which personal integrity thrives
