SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Grantham
Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 Per Day, depending on experience
Start date: Start after October half-term
Contract: Part-Time

GSL Education ‘Lincolnshire Branch’ are currently collaborating with an outstanding SEN-based school in Grantham that caters to students with special educational needs and is looking to hire a committed and enthusiastic Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the holistic development of students facing social, emotional and mental health challenges.
The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their educational goals.
Implement effective behaviour management strategies to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Offer emotional and social support to students, helping them develop resilience, confidence and social skills.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents and other professionals to develop and implement comprehensive support plans.
Assist in assessing and recording students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to personalised education plans.
The successful candidate will:
Have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a related field. A background in psychology, counselling, or social work is advantageous.
May have prior experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
Flexibility to adapt to the varying needs of students and support different teaching strategies.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
