BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Undergraduate programme you will be required to attend your site 3 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

What you will be doing


As an Undergraduate, working in Supply Chain enables you to take up a variety of roles to help ensure that to that we deliver the right products, at the right time and at the right cost to the required quality. Your role will be varied; ranging from undertaking supplier visits to a more analytical focus of developing procurement strategies.


The Supply Chain team is an important function in one of the world’s most exciting defence companies. We provide world-class sourcing, contract and supplier management capability to the Business Unit to deliver increased product or service quality, reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) and enhance operating efficiencies without compromising quality, safety, health or the environment.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Communicate with internal / external stakeholders supporting the contract manager to resolve a wide variety of problems and quality issues, escalating when necessary.

  • Coordinate procurement metrics and related actions within the team.

  • Record and report cost savings / cost avoidance.

  • Support the contract manager in reviewing the performance of suppliers against quality, cost and delivery metrics to ensure requirements are met and to secure improvements.

  • Support continuous improvement / process improvement opportunities and Learning from Experience activity.

  • Ensure all business systems, document management systems and data sources are kept up-to-date to provide a single point of truth for stakeholders whilst ensuring all tasks are performed with a right first time ethic in order to meet business-wide Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People principles.


Skills


As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Procurement, General Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Economics, Finance and Accounting, Supply Chain, Society Politics and policy and Business Management.


To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.

All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
