Help us make a difference as a Logistics Operator based from our site in Seaham. The Logistics Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating Fork Lift Truck machinery to move materials, load and unload vehicles.
Days of work: Monday to Friday
Shifts: Split shifts 0700 to 1500 and 1100 to 1900 alternate.
Total: 37.5 hours a week
A quick look at the role.
The Logistics Operator duties will consist of the following:
- Collect bales of plastic bottles from vehicles and transport them to the correct storage areas
- Collect bales and boxes of waste material and load them into skips or vehicles
- Transport bales of other plastic materials to designated storage area or load onto vehicles
- Remove finished product bags from loading stations and transport to designated storage area or load onto vehicles
- Maintain housekeeping to the safe and high standard that Biffa require
- Report to the shift supervisor operational safety issues and any equipment performance issues or concerns

- Placing materials in correct location and take material samples when required
- Carrying out checks on product storage silos and complete relevant documentation
- Carrying out daily FLT safety inspections and report any defects found. Complete relevant documentation
- Participating in near miss and hazard reporting, and receive Tool Box Talks and other required operational and health and safety training to assist Biffa Polymers achieve excellence in health and safety as well as meeting business KPI’s
Requirements
Here’s what we require:
- Fork Lift Truck licence and/or experience
- Basic knowledge of Health & Safety in an industrial / processing environment
- Good organisation and communication skills
- Experience working in a manufacturing or process environment
