Were always searching the globe for innovative, collaborative minds to join our best-in-class Aecon community About Us The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United and SNC-Lavalin located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders as well as construction management and trade labor. This project is part of Bruce Powers Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Powers CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. Reporting to the Director, EHS, the Environmental Specialist is responsible for the oversight of its project execution and environmental performance and provides advice and assistance to the project execution team. What You'll Do Here Develop, monitor, and deliver all plans and processes for environmental management and waste management Oversight and maintenance of SPG/SGRT Environmental Management System Define the environment programs for the projects Support implementation of the programs Assess environmental program implementation and performance and report on same. Prepare summary information for the management review of the EMS Prepare and maintain the Project EMPs and WMPs and associated standards and procedures consistent with the clients EMS program Identify and maintain the Environmental Aspects and Significant Environmental Aspects list, as well as objectives, performance measures and targets for the project. Prepare documentation and reports including: monthly environmental performance reports information reports/documents in support of client regulatory reporting requirements environment incident and event reports, as required summary information in support of the clients annual environmental management review Evaluate the Environmental Operational Plans or equivalent submitted by Direct and Indirect Work Contractors, where applicable: to ensure alignment with the Contractor Health, Safety & Environment Program. identify gaps in procedures. assess and verify environmental risk ratings. Participate in preparation of corrective action plans, as necessary including: verification that corrective action plans will resolve the related environmental issues. monitoring the implementation of environment related corrective action plans to ensure implementation is according to plan and that the desired results are achieved Perform field inspections, surveys and walkdowns of environment related activities to assure field activities, conditions and results are per planned assumptions. Provide information as necessary in support of environmental awareness and Contractor environmental training activities. Provide guidance and coach/mentor staff in the execution of environment related field activities As necessary, prepare draft formal regulatory communications on behalf of contractor for review, processing, and issue by client Advise/provide technical guidance to project managers and supervisors of potential environmental risks associated with specific field activities Provide oversight of chemical management and approvals in line with Bruce Power requirements Secure and maintain all appropriate licenses, permits and approvals of an environmental nature required for the companys operations (e.g., St. Marys Feeder Facility). Act as Hazardous Waste Information Network (HWIN) administrator / oversight for hazardous waste movements from the B72 Training Facility and St. Marys Feeder Facility Interface with the client Environment Section staff to discuss project environmental performance, OPEX, events and issues of mutual interest/concern. Participate in environmental audits, assessments and inspections conducted by others Identify Legal and other requirements applicable to the projects. Maintain a list of those requirements Identify and monitor new environmental legal requirements and amendments to existing requirements coming into effect and interpret as to applicability to the projects Prepare documentation to facilitate compliance to legal and other requirements; obtain/provide interpretation of requirements, as necessary Share best practices, lessons learned, operating experience and innovations to encourage continual improvement Ensure deployment of internal environmental audit program Work with EHS Advisors to develop their understanding and awareness of environmental issues when in the field Communicate with outside agencies/regulators as required Review contracts, Contractor Environment Plans, work plans, etc. to provide assurance that legal and other requirements have been taken into account Develop proposed objectives, performance measures and targets Communicate specified project performance information to client environment staff for use in deriving overall performance Prepare information and participate in the clients Environmental Management Review What You Bring To The Team Must possess as a minimum a bachelors degree in the area of environmental science and/or environmental management from reputable and recognized university Must have at least 5 years of experience working in the environmental management field Must have demonstrable experience developing and managing environmental management programs in accordance with ISO requirements Aecon fosters diversity , inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
