THE ROLE: In the rapidly expanding world of AI and HPC, solid system level integration and validation becomes paramount. Our DCGPU solutions, including APUs and GPUs, demand rigorous testing for optimum performance and reliability. We are seeking a Systems Design Engineer - Validation Automation to drive the development of debug and test automation tools used by the System Design Engineering Validation team. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment that requires creative problem solving skills and has a passion for advancing end to end validation test coverage through an understanding of the application of tools and processes. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate will possess systems design engineering expertise that will be leveraged towards development of tools and automation strategies to support the execution of test plans and debug flows. You will be part of a team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with multiple teams to develop test automation and debug tools that will be used for system level validation test execution, at-scale testing and functional debugs Develop a deep understanding of our silicon SoCs, board level designs, system level designs and firmware/software stacks to drive the development of automation tools and scripts in support of all validation activities. Apply learnings from system debugs to improve tool features and automate test execution, data collection and log post processing. Contribute to technical innovation to improve AMD’s capabilities across validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives. Contribute to debug and triage issues found during the silicon validation and production phases of our AI and HPC systems. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python, Groovy, Java) Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity Knowledge of web development tools and PowerBI Extensive experience in software/tools development and delivery, working with teams across multiple groups and geographies Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization – able to translate a deep understanding of system level debug strategy into optimal automation and debug tool flows Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering LOCATION: Vancouver, British Columbia or Austin, TX LI-BW1 LI-hybrid Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
