Job Summary Reporting to the Professional Practice Director, Nurse Practitioners, the Lead, Nurse Practitioners is responsible for providing expert leadership, consultation, advice and assistance to programs and departments across VCH on projects and initiatives designed to support a quality practice environment and excellence in clinical practice for NPs, including supporting electronic health care record initiatives. The Lead, Nurse Practitioners provides practice leadership to Nurse Practitioners (NPs) across Vancouver Coastal Health, acknowledging that Nurse Practitioners are autonomous, collaborative medical practitioners and that developing role clarity is essential to the effectiveness of interprofessional teams in which NPs function. Working to foster the integration NP practice and understanding of practice scope and to create a supportive professional practice structure that will ensure adequate opportunities for mentorship, clinical practice feedback, collegial relationships with physicians and other medical staff, and collaborative practice within the interprofessional teams. In addition, the Lead, Nurse Practitioners performs Clinical Nurse Practitioner related duties as assigned and will have key accountabilities for quality assurance and patient safety within the Regional Department of Nurse Practitioners in accordance with the medical staff rules and bylaws. Qualifications Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner including progressive clinical practice, education, research, project management or leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. ROLE SPECIFIC EXPERTISE: • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and planned changes. • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various groups and agencies. • Demonstrated knowledge of contracts, government policies, regulations and funding mechanisms relevant to acute, community, and primary health care. • Demonstrated ability to develop detailed parameters for clinical practice changes, and negotiate and implement change management within complex clinical environments. • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and build consensus across Nurse Practitioners and interprofessional areas across the organization. • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of nursing legislation, statutes, regulations, and professional standards of practice. • Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate current trends and issues relating to Nurse Practitioner and nursing professional practice. • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities that promote improved quality clinical care and project/program implementation, management and evaluation. • Proficiency in the use of related technology and software applications. • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a diverse community. • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
