Job Summary Come work as a Carpenter with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Carpenter to join the Plant Maintenance team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team As a Carpenter with VCH you will: Perform skilled carpentry work in accordance with applicable building codes and by-laws in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of building structural elements, fixtures, and furniture using power tools such as table saws, mitre saws, routers, jointers, and sanders and hand tools such as hammers, screw drivers, squares, chisels, hand saws, clamps an planes. Qualifications Education & Experience Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Carpenter recognized by the Province of B.C. Two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment. Closing Statement The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
