Position Summary: Under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Director of Clinical Services performs various duties in accordance with the needs and scope of T.H.E. Clinic’s, Inc. This individual must be one who thrives in an environment centered in values of respect, integrity, compassion, confidentiality and excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. This individual is a nurse practitioner who participates in and facilitates care of patients; performs patient physical examinations and obtains accurate medical histories; reviews health records and assesses medical conditions; completes clinical resumes, progress notes and orders
2. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as delineated by medical privileges including initiation of emergency stabilization; records and presents data to the supervising physician; refers patients for outpatient specialty testing to facilitate prompt evaluation and treatment as needed
3. Instructs and counsels patients pertaining to their physical and mental health, including diets, social habits, medications, and treatment of injury or illness and follow-up care; provides health information to patients and their families as necessary
4. Participates in outpatient clinical duties, and assists with communications to referring physicians; attends and assists with preparation of conferences; maintains working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures
5. Provides quality clinical supervision to the medical assistants, referral clerks, medical secretary, and medical assistant students or interns as assigned
6. Provides clinical direction and supervision over T.H.E. Clinic Inc. infection control program. Develops and maintains a management program for infection control that includes assessment of needs and risks. Participates on the safety committee, and Continuous Quality Improvement committee
7. Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience Required:
- Current California Nursing License and CPR Certification. Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner’s Program issued by an accredited college or university and possession of a State issued medication-furnishing number.
- Min. 2 years of community clinic experience is a plus.
- Ability to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, social, and economic backgrounds
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with patients, professionals, and work as effective team unit.
- Ability to delegate authority to an appropriate staff.
- Ability to work independently, as a team player and under pressure.
- Computer proficiency
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience utilizing an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
- Bilingual preferred
