The Assistant Accounting Manager will plan, perform, and direct the department's accounting activities.

  • Works with the accounting staff to meet the reporting and consolidate financial reporting deadlines, budget preparation, monthly account analyses, taxes, etc.

  • Works with factory controller and understands the results against budget.

  • Conducts performance evaluations.

  • Coordinates and identifies training needs for current staff.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Checks information and data for accuracy and completeness and corrects and completes them on time.

  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.

  • Assists with preparing business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

  • Assists with producing monthly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

  • Actively involved with preparing and supplying supporting documentation of financial and JSOX audits. Audit planning throughout the fiscal year.

  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.

  • Review contracts to understand accounting and financial risks.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

  • Create accounting workflow charts, write processes, and document them.

  • Account analysis and monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent use of Microsoft Excel and Outlook products.

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient in ERP accounting software. Experience with JDE, SAP, and AS 400 is a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, statistics, or closely related field.

  • Eight years or more of related experience is required.

  • A certified Public Accountant designation is not required.

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry desired.

EQUIPMENT

Personal computer and other standard office equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel is not required for this position.
