Charles Abbott Associates (CAA) is currently interviewing for a Senior Level Building Inspector/Deputy Building Official for one of our clients in South Orange County.

Essential duties for this position include but are not limited to:

• Assisting with the day to day operations of the permitting, building plan review and building inspections for the Building Department.
• Assuming the duties of the Building Official in the absence of the Building Official.

• Conducting field inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects including structural, plumbing, mechanical and electrical installations for code, standards and regulation compliance, especially for more complex projects.

• Maintaining records such as files and reports regarding inspection and plan check activities if needed for possible legal actions.

  Investigating and responding to problems and complaints in a timely and professional manner.

  Assisting at the public counter.

  Must possess a solid understanding of the current principles, practices, methods, materials, techniques and safety standards of building construction, building inspection and structural design for commercial and residential projects.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• 4 years of building inspection experience

• AA degree preferably in Construction Management. For those interested in becoming a Building Official down the road, a 4 year degree will be required.

• Candidates shall have a current California ICC/ICBO building inspector certification;

• Valid State Driver’s license with clean driving record;

• Excellent interpersonal skills are a must.

Desired Qualification

• Knowledge of standard computer software experience such as Microsoft Office

• Awareness of Permit tracking software such as Energov.

Hourly Rate: $38.00-$47.00.
