Job Description

We are seeking a BIM Coordinator with 3-5 years of experience, preferably, but not mandatory, in the railway industry or at least in the transportation field, to join our digital team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Bentley Systems software, including ProjectWise, OpenRail, OpenRoads, iTwin, and other Connect Edition tools. This role is vital in managing multi-discipline coordination, clash detection, and ensuring adherence to the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and project guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support to BIM management
    1. The main responsibility of the BIM coordinator will be to engage with all the teams involved to achieve the closest coordination possible, ensuring that the BEP and procedures are in place and being followed.
    2. The BIM coordinator is the BIM manager representative.
  • Clash Detection and Resolution:
    1. Perform clash detection across models using designated tools and generate reports to manage and resolve clashes through coordination with multiple disciplines.
    2. Assemble the federated model for use in coordination meetings to ensure model accuracy and cross-disciplinary alignment.
    3. Support regular model reviews throughout the federated model, ensuring the design team resolves clashes in a timely manner.
  • Modeling Support:
    1. Provide troubleshooting and modeling assistance to BIM modelers, ensuring effective use of design authoring tools.
    2. Support design teams in setting up models for design review through the federated model, ensuring models are configured for efficient review processes.
  • BIM Execution Plan (BEP) Compliance:
  1. Ensure all stakeholders follow the BIM Execution Plan and project guidelines. Assist in updating and enforcing BIM standards and protocols.
  2. Ensure that quality checklists are performed on all uploaded models to maintain model accuracy and completeness.
  3. Maintain oversight of model accuracy and completeness, ensuring models meet project requirements and LOD specifications.
  4. Subconsultant Coordination:
    1. Coordinate BIM models and data with subconsultants, ensuring timely updates and proper integration into the project’s BIM environment.
    2. Facilitate meetings and communication to address technical issues.
  5. Guidelines and Documentation:
    1. Assist in preparing BIM guidelines, workflows, and project-specific documentation.
  6. Training and Support:
    1. Help teams understand the BIM methodology, focusing on model-based design, LOD requirements, and best practices, while ensuring compliance with ISO 19650 standards.
  7. Interoperability Support:
    1. Test and support interoperability between Bentley platforms and Civil 3D, ensuring accurate data exports in interoperable formats.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a BIM coordination role, particularly in large infrastructure projects, preferably in the rail sector.
  • Education: Demonstrated experience in Bentley software is required; formal education is not mandatory.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of BIM methodologies, LOD requirements, and model coordination across disciplines. Familiarity with ISO 19650 standards and BEP compliance is essential.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multi-discipline teams.
  • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier

Preferred Experience:

  • Rail or Transportation Projects: Experience working on high-speed rail or other large infrastructure transportation projects involving multiple disciplines.
  • Subconsultant Coordination: Proven experience coordinating with subconsultants to ensure timely delivery of model updates and issue resolution.

Working Conditions and Environment:

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Generally, uses advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
