Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing technical engineering aspects of water/wastewater construction projects, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications. As a Senior Engineer, you will supervise junior engineers, manage project activities, and coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
·Project Supervision: Oversee and manage the technical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
·Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor site engineers and junior staff, providing technical guidance and support.
·Quality Control: Ensure the quality of work meets industry standards and project-specific quality requirements.
·Review and Approval of RAMs: Review and ensure that Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMs) are in place, complete, and approved prior to the start of any construction activities. Ensure all risks are properly identified, assessed, and mitigated.
·Problem Solving: Resolve technical issues on-site by coordinating with designers, subcontractors, and clients, and making necessary design or method adjustments.
·Resource Management: Collaborate with project managers to plan and allocate resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to meet project goals.
·Health & Safety: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, actively promoting a safe working environment.
·Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project progress, technical issues, and quality control, and present findings to project managers and clients.
·Coordination: Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and local authorities, to ensure smooth project execution.
·Budget & Timeline Monitoring: Assist in monitoring project budgets and schedules, identifying potential delays or cost overruns, and recommending corrective actions.
Qualifications and Skills:
·Education: Bachelor's Degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
·Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in construction or civil engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior engineering role. Previous experience in the water/wastewater industry is essential.
·Certifications:
oSSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) and CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) minimum.
oCSCS Site Manager certification (minimum requirement).
oHealth, Safety, and Environmental Management certification such as IOSH or Construction Managers Safety Certificate.
·Technical Skills:
oProficiency in construction management software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
oStrong knowledge of engineering principles, construction methods, and industry regulations.
oFamiliarity with quality control procedures and health & safety standards
