Engineering Manager – Life Sciences
£62,500 + £5,100 Car Allowance
Location: Cambridge

As the Engineering Manager at a leading campus in Cambridge, you’ll oversee the maintenance of plant and equipment, ensuring all operations comply with site safety procedures and policies while meeting health and safety legislation. You’ll lead a 24/7 engineering team and liaise with key stakeholders to deliver high-quality maintenance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management: Allocate and plan work for the 24/7 engineering team, including PPMs and responsive tasks.
Quality Control: Perform quality checks on completed work to maintain high standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with key stakeholders to arrange complex maintenance tasks.
Training and Development: Ensure team members have Personal Development Plans (PDPs) in place and adequate training is scheduled.
Authorised Person (AP) Responsibilities: Act as AP for HV-LV electrical systems and confined spaces, depending on qualifications.
Technical Leadership: Advise on mechanical and electrical competencies, assess contractors, and ensure all site policies and procedures are up to date.
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation in collaboration with the site HSE Manager and BU Technical Manager.
Emergency Support: Assist during emergency operations and liaise with site management.Essential Skills & Qualifications
Apprentice-trained engineer with recognised qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
5+ years’ experience managing teams in a regulated environment.
Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems, Fire Alarms, and General Building Services (Electrical, AC, Boilers, Water Systems, Chillers, Generators, UPS).
Commitment to safe working practices.Preferred Skills
Working towards Incorporated Engineering registration with CIBSE, IET, or IMechE.
IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
