Job Description
Mac recruit Group require an Estimator (with Fabrication background) for our client, a UK leading customer focused manufacturer offering turnkey steel solutions. This role is based in their office just outside of Glasgow.
Estimator duties & responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation. Ensure accurate pricing for materials, labour, and equipment involved in fabrication.
* Review project requirements and identify the most cost-effective and efficient methods of production, factoring in manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
* Obtain and evaluate material, labour, and subcontractor pricing for projects. Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure accurate pricing on components and materials.
* Work closely with engineering teams to clarify designs, specifications, and any changes
* Prepare formal bids for projects, including detailed breakdowns of materials, labour, and overhead costs. Present bids to management and customers as required.
* Monitor project budgets and report on variances between actual costs and estimates. Propose cost-saving opportunities where applicable.
* Engage with clients to understand project scopes, address inquiries, and provide clarity on estimates and timelines.
* Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and cost-related information for each project.
* Stay up to date with industry trends, material prices, fabrication technology advancements, and best practices to improve the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
Estimator requirements:
* Experience in cost estimating within the fabrication/ engineering / manufacturing industry
* Related degree in engineering or construction engineering
* Fabrication background
* Driving licence
Estimator salary & benefits:
* £50,000 - £60,000
* 2 bonuses per year
