Job Description
Kinetic are seeking to recruit an experienced Welder for a permanent role with a Global business in the Glasgow area!
Role Description:
- A suitably qualified and experienced Welder who is trusted to carry out the Welding of Manufactured and Installed Steelwork items, delivering to the highest quality
Role Responsibilities:
- Located in areas from on board Ship to Fabrication Shed, also smaller areas such as the Steel Outfit Shop. Welders will assist in the ships construction by welding small sub assemblies and piece parts, to larger tasks such as block link-up butts and seams
Typical Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of quality standards
- Understanding all relevant Assessments, Risk, PUWER & COSHH
- Understanding welding processes for different metals
- Ability to flow from Shop to Ship when required
Required Qualifications:
- SVQ/NVQ 3 Marine Engineering
- SVQ/NVQ 3 Apprenticeship or industry recognised equivalent.
- Relevant experience, post-apprenticeship, in a marine installation or industrial installation environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
- HNC Fabrication and Welding Shipbuilding
- Experience of Aluminium Welding
- Experience of Austenitic Welding
- 6G Welding Qualified

- Operation of Bug-O/KAT - Track Welder

Knowledge:
- Understanding of relevant welding processes and how to apply them to different materials
- Understanding of SHE Risks Assessments, PUWER and COSHH.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, instructions and procedures.
- Range of tools, materials, equipment and components used when performing operations, their characteristics, features and their safe use, movement and operation.
- Importance of restoring the work area to a tidy and safe state on completion of work and what this entails.
Expected Skills:
- Maintain the Safety of self along with others by following safe systems of work when conducting operations.
- Select, use, maintain, and store appropriate resources safely and correctly (tools, equipment, machinery and consumables).
- Follow quality improvement principles, techniques, and methods and identify any areas for improvement.
- Weld all Steelwork using appropriate methods, in accordance with required specifications, and following all required steps and checks for the approved work operation process and operational standards.
