To weigh waste vehicle in and out using the landfill site and to assist the site manager by ensuring weighbridge is operated in accordance with the Environmental Permit, Planning Permission, all company policies.
Duties and key responsibilities
Responsible for his or her personal safety and that of all personnel under his or her authority, including others who may be affected by the company’s activities.
In particular:
* Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and to comply with safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes of practice.
* If aware of any unsafe practice or condition, or if in any doubt about the safety of any situation, consult their supervisor.
* Obtain and use the correct tools/equipment for the work and not to use any that are unsafe or damaged. All tools, equipment and personal protective equipment must be stored in the approved place after use.
* Ensure that all guards are securely fixed, and that all safety equipment and personal protective clothing/equipment provided are used.
* Not to operate any plant or equipment unless authorised.
* To report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous condition to their line management.
* To switch off and secure unattended plant or equipment.
* To avoid improvised arrangements and suggest safe ways of eliminating hazards.
* Not to participate in horseplay or place fellow employees in danger by their actions.
* Adopt a proactive manner to energy usage and suggest ways of improving energy performance.
Duties and key responsibilities – Operational
* Weighing in and out of vehicles and entering details on to the ‘Gladis’ Weighbridge System using the computer.
* Monitoring Waste Transfer Notes and EWC code usage.
* To assist site manager in ensuring reports are populated and completed within set deadlines.
* To ensure users of the site are inducted into the site safety procedures and to control and direct the flow of traffic into site.
* To assist the Site Manager in controlling and co-ordinating the efficient operation of the weighbridge in accordance with management instructions, all health & safety Working Procedures and Legislative Requirements, Planning Permissions, Environmental Permit etc. at all times.
* All accidents, near-misses or dangerous situations to be recorded and reported in accordance with FCC’s procedures, including any violence, threats or acts of intimidation against you, as well as any breach of rules, acts of dishonesty, malpractice or corruption by any visitor to the site, or member of staff.
* To be aware of and conversant with the relevant details of the environmental permit, Working Plan and Risk Assessments.
* To maintain a polite helpful manner while taking telephone and email queries from customers, suppliers and other and FCC Environment sites.
* To protect the Company’s ability to trade by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation at all times and especially that concerning health and safety in the workplace and the ‘Duty of Care’.
* To carry out housekeeping duties within weighbridge office, welfare facilities and site offices
* To carry out and ensure relevant contractor documents are correct and to carry out site inductions and to keep up to date.
* To undertake any other duties reasonably requested by FCC management including litter picking as and if required.
* To help site management with all aspects of site administration
* To help site management with all aspects of site purchasing
* To facilitate with the safe running of front of house
Experience
* Demonstrable skills in achieving demanding work requirements and ensuring customer needs are met.
* Evidence of ability to identify and implement change programmes that have a positive impact on operational and business requirements.
* Health and safety experience when operating a landfill and the duties of weighbridge administrator
* Sound knowledge of weighbridge operations
