Salary:
Maintenance Mechanic: $35,880.00 - $45,792.00, based on experience and skill set.
Mechanic Aide: $28,080.00 - $39,511.00. Candidates may start at this level and have 6 months to obtain EPA Certification to move up to the Maintenance Mechanic role.
Position Overview: We are recruiting for a state government department to fill a direct hire Maintenance Mechanic, where you'll play a key role in maintaining and repairing properties managed by department. The position involves performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks, along with skilled repair work across various trades. This includes carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, sheet rock repair, and painting. You'll also assist with landscaping tasks and prepare vacant units for new tenants. Being available for emergency call-outs is part of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform skilled maintenance and repairs in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and more.
Conduct preventive maintenance and minor landscaping tasks.
Help prepare vacant apartments for new occupants.
Assess maintenance needs and address them promptly.
Ensure adherence to safety procedures and established guidelines.
Qualifications:
EPA Certification required (can be obtained within 6 months for Mechanic Aide).
Thorough knowledge of maintenance and construction trades.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with others.
Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
Evaluation:
Performance is reviewed based on the quality and timeliness of work, interactions with co-workers and residents, adherence to policies, and overall job knowledge.
