Join Our Team as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Fort Drum!
Are you a skilled mechanic with experience in military heavy equipment maintenance? We are seeking a dedicated Military Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team immediately. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing vital military equipment, ensuring that it operates at peak efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and repair power equipment (cranes, bulldozers, trench-diggers, etc.)
• Diagnose defects and dismantle/reassemble machinery using hoists and hand tools
• Conduct inspections using micrometers and gauges to ensure operational efficiency
• Overhaul engines, transmissions, and equipment
• Perform welding and structural repairs
• Train and guide junior workers in maintenance and assembly tasks

Equipment Types You Will Work On:

• HMMWV, FMTV/LMTV, HEMTT vehicles
• Trailer systems and power generation equipment
• Vehicle-mounted air conditioning and heating systems
• Various construction and mining machinery

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with military vehicle maintenance (HMMWV, FMTV/LMTV, HEMTT)
• Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair power generation and air conditioning units
• NYS Driver’s License – required for non-airbrake vehicles
• CDL-B and CDL-A – required for specific vehicle types
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and comply with safety standards
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Must obtain/maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and base access

Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required):

• Tactical Operator License
• Experience with military mining machinery
