Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Licenses Professional Engineer
Experience:
5+ years minimum experience
Responsibilities
- Adhere to Sutton Engineering, LLC core values and standards.
- Design Mechanical/Plumbing systems for diverse markets (mission critical, communications, commercial, government, etc.).
- Perform site surveys. Field verification and documentation of existing systems.
- Coordinates and communicates Mechanical/Plumbing systems with other departments and disciplines.
- Utilize CAD/REVIT to document design as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate drawing development with Production Department.
- Communicate with equipment vendors for selecting equipment.
- Coordinate development of drawings with designers, production department and other engineers.
- Documents project specifications.
- Develop design concepts.
- Identify roadblocks during design and communicate with Project Manager, Engineer of Record and Director of Engineering.
- Responsible for assisting during construction administration phase:
- Review submittals, RFIs, change orders.
- Perform site visits.
- Document and publish observation reports and punch list items.
- Coordinate building service with power company.
- Mechanical-specific responsibilities
- Perform energy code compliance calculations.
- Perform energy modeling for code compliance and LEED certification.
- Review code requirements pertinent to the design.
- Perform heating, cooling load and other engineering calculations.
- Perform exhaust and ventilation calculations.
- Perform air and water pressure drop calculations, air balance calculations, water volume calculations.
- Design duct air systems, hydronic system and fuel oil system layouts.
- Size ductwork and hydronic piping.
- Select mechanical equipment utilizing software and catalogs: diffusers, pumps, fans, hydronic specialties, heaters, heat trace, heaters, air conditioning systems, fuel oil specialties, etc.
- Document equipment schedules.
- Document basis of design requirements for project.
- Develops flow diagrams.
- Documents details in contract documents.
- Documents building management system requirements including sequence of operations, control diagrams, control points.
- Review Architectural, Civil and Technology drawings, identify and communicate coordination items to project manager.

- Expert of industry-standard and local codes.
- Proficient in MEANS for construction cost estimates.
- Ability to optimize design to meet energy standards, customer expectations and customer budget.
