We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant in the Ventura/Oxnard area to join our team. In this role, you will assist patients in enrolling in the patient portal, manage daily clinic operations, and support patient care processes. This role is perfect for someone with strong customer service skills and a passion for healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in enrolling in the patient portal.
• Open and close the clinic as required.
• Answer and forward incoming calls.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
• Verify insurance information.
• Request and manage medical records.
• Maintain patient flow and notify the back office of patient arrivals in a timely manner.
• Update patient charts.

Essential Skills

• Experience in medical assisting and patient care.
• Knowledge of Epic and electronic health records (EHR).
• Strong customer service skills.
• Proficiency in appointment scheduling and medical terminology.
• Experience in insurance verification and triage.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to perform pediatric care, blood pressure monitoring, EKG, phlebotomy, and venipuncture.
• Experience in clerical tasks, patient intake, and charting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Medical Assisting Diploma and active BLS certification.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a must.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience is preferred.

Work Environment

This position operates in a primary care clinical setting with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The work environment is dynamic and provides opportunities for growth within a large healthcare organization. Contractors performing well will be considered for internal roles as they open.
