Job DetailsPerforms the daily procedures in the electrophysiology laboratory including catheter ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator implants/removals/upgrades, tilt table tests, direct current cardioversions, cardiac lead extractions, electrophysiology studies and left atrial appendage closuresPractice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument tableEnsures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentialityUtilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable)Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitionerEvaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicableEducating and monitoring students and other health care providersAssisting licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional cardiology proceduresMaintains and troubleshoots electrophysiology laboratory equipment to assure operability and safety; calibrates equipment and performs routine preventative maintenance proceduresPanning the procedure table during image productionPerforming manual hemostasis during and after procedureOperates and ensures the quality control of devices, electrocardiogram monitoring equipment/cardiac stimulator, oxygen consumption equipment, and blood analysis equipmentInitiates ACLS protocols as required for cardiac rolesParticipates, as necessary, with ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory
Job RequirementsPosition requires graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program and exam eligibilityIBHRE or RCES status required after two years of hireRCES / RCIS preferredOR - Applicants who hold an ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certificationMinimum of 1 year-related work experience (Preferred)
