Job Overview:
My client, a leading architectural consultancy firm in the UK, is seeking an Associate Director to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role, contributing to the strategic direction of the firm while overseeing project delivery, business development, and team management. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong design background, technical expertise, and exceptional leadership skills. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with senior management to drive the firm’s growth and uphold its reputation for design excellence and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Support the Director(s) in shaping the strategic direction of the firm.
- Lead, mentor, and manage architectural teams across multiple projects.
- Foster a collaborative working environment that encourages innovation and design excellence.
- Represent the firm in senior client and stakeholder meetings, offering strategic guidance.
- Project Oversight & Delivery:
- Oversee project lifecycles, ensuring high-quality design, technical accuracy, and timely delivery.
- Monitor project budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring profitability and client satisfaction.
- Review and approve key design documentation, technical specifications, and construction details.
- Business Development:
- Identify new business opportunities and foster strong relationships with potential clients.
- Lead or support the preparation of bids, proposals, and tenders for new projects.
- Actively participate in networking events, conferences, and industry forums to enhance the firm’s profile.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure all projects adhere to UK building regulations, planning laws, and industry standards.
- Implement and maintain robust quality assurance procedures across all stages of project delivery.
- Stay updated with trends, technology, and best practices within the architecture and construction sectors.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on architectural and construction matters.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in architecture, including significant experience in a leadership or senior management role within a consultancy or design practice.
- Qualifications: Chartered Architect status (RIBA or equivalent) with a degree in Architecture or related field.
- Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of UK planning regulations, building codes, and sustainability practices. Proficiency in BIM and other architectural software.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
- Business Acumen: Strong commercial awareness, with experience in business development, client management, and project financials.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Desirable:
- Experience with high-profile or complex architectural projects in sectors such as commercial, residential, or public infrastructure.
- A track record of managing projects across various scales and complexities.
- Active involvement in professional networks or industry groups.
