Job Description

The Technical Services Manager forms part of the Senior Management Team (SMT)

and will support the Head of Operations to manage the commercial portfolio, deliver

innovative investment and rationalisation opportunities whilst providing a range of

professional and technical consultancy services to in-house Clients.

Salary: Grade 9 (£64,545.66 to £74,858.22)

Contract: Permanent

Entitlements: 26 days annual leave plus 12.5 public holidays, pension with Strathclyde Pension Fund, hybrid working

Location: Glasgow

Key responsibilities & accountabilities will include:

  • Provide key support to the Head of Operations to continually improve and develop the business.
  • Deputise for the Head of Operations as required.
  • Manage a Technical Team to ensure delivery of the strategic business plan, the operational requirements and contractual obligations for Service Agreements (SA) and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Implement the highest professional standards and lead by example.
  • Provide leadership and line management in connection with the commercial portfolio, delivery of revenue and capital project plans and provide consultancy services through SA’s.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen by unlocking investment opportunities within the investment portfolio to increase income or to reduce holding costs.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate portfolio risks with effective risk management.
  • Lead and coordinate due diligence of key transactions i.e., pre-acquisitions and
  • long-term leases.
  • Lead and coordinate options appraisals and prepare business cases for implementation.
  • Prioritise strategic and business needs to ensure effective and efficient resource management.
  • Implement alternative and innovative procurement route(s) to market for professional services, construction works and joint venture working.
  • Programme manage the capital and revenue investment plans against the planned completion dates, cashflow forecasts and approved budgets.
  • Implement and provide specific project controls and techniques in programme, risk and cost management.
  • Implement a strategy to programme and continually improve the asset management of the portfolio i.e., condition, energy and sustainability.
