Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Safety & Compliance Officer to join a leading aviation company. This role involves overseeing compliance and safety for AOC (Air Operator Certificate) and ATO (Approved Training Organisation) approvals, with responsibilities across both auditing and safety management.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance:
- Lead and manage the AOC and ATO audit plans, serving as the primary auditor for these approvals.
- Conduct internal audits and audits of sub-contractors, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee the management and resolution of findings and observations, ensuring corrective and root cause actions are addressed.
- Prepare performance data for compliance monitoring and generate audit checklists in Centrik, focusing on AOC and ATO audits.
- Support the approval process of providers for operations and training.
- Provide proactive advice and guidance on compliance issues to management and personnel.
- Assist external auditors and deputise for the Head of Safety and Compliance when necessary.
Safety:
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring safety is at the heart of all activities.
- Collaborate with the Head of Safety and Compliance to enhance aviation safety across the organisation.
- Investigate operational and training safety incidents, conducting thorough root cause analysis.
- Assist in identifying and managing hazards through risk assessments and appropriate actions.
- Support the monitoring of safety performance, including the provision of safety data and the tracking of Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
- Aid in managing Safety Action Groups and contribute to the production of safety-related documentation, notices, and newsletters.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of safety training, including recurrent training alongside other safety team members.
- Provide expert advice on safety-related matters to the wider team.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Solid understanding of CAA regulations, particularly regarding operational elements and management systems.
- Trained auditor with experience in internal audits relating to CAA/EASA regulations.
- Qualified investigator with experience in incident investigations.
- Familiarity with Centrik for safety and compliance management.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a safety or compliance role within a helicopter company.
- At least 5 years' experience in flight operations, ground operations, maintenance, or continuing airworthiness within a helicopter company.
- Located within commuting distance of Biggin Hill.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven ability to enhance safety culture and earn the respect of colleagues through effective management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Understanding of human and organisational factors in safety.
- At least 5 years' experience in flight or ground operations, maintenance, or continuing airworthiness management within an aviation company.
- Willingness to undertake any necessary training to develop competency in safety and compliance tasks.
- Must be located within commuting distance of Liskeard, Gloucester, or Boscombe Down.
Training:
