Role Purpose
CBRE’s market-leading Rating team is enjoying tremendous growth, creating opportunities for individuals to progress their careers.
We are now able to further accelerate the expansion of our Rating business in the Midlands & South. To succeed, we need to recruit ambitious and talented individuals into our dedicated Industrial & Logistics sector team.
Our Rating team provides rating advice to a broad range of clients including landlords, occupiers, investors, and developers. You will be tasked with supporting the business to build on existing market success. You will have the tenacity and ability to learn new skills, develop new business, and provide support to Directors on high profile and complex cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice to corporate real estate occupiers and investors within the sector on reducing their business rate liabilities including managing appeals, relief applications, completion notice advice, and empty rates mitigation strategies.
- Manage and grow your own client base and case load within the sector, developing excellent business relationships with new and existing clients.
- Use robust quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess client situations and devise recommended strategies and solutions.
- Prepare & present at Valuation Tribunal.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships across the wider CBRE network and develop relationships with key CBRE service lines to promote the team and leverage opportunities.
- Support Directors to innovate processes to drive efficiencies into working processes, and to stay abreast of legislative and market developments.
- Identify additional cross selling revenue by exploring client
- Understand the business development process and develop ideas and relationships that may result in new clients within Rating or another area of the business.
- Support proposals/ produce market-facing material e.g. Thought Leadership.
- Contribute to the development of more junior members of the team through role modelling behaviour and feedback, providing support as required.
Person Specification/Requirements
- Preferably MRICS qualified
- Proven experience in providing rating advice including negotiating appeals and advising on mitigation.
- Detailed knowledge of rating legislation and case law.
- Sector specific experience ideal but not essential.
- Experience of taking cases to Valuation Tribunal and Upper Tribunal ideal but not essential.
- Strong general surveying and inspection skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commercially astute with an entrepreneurial attitude to business development.
- Proactive with the ability to work autonomously and co-ordinate tasks efficiently to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities.
- Confident and assertive where required.
