NRL Teesside is proud to be working with a leading process/manufacturing facility in Teesside who are now seeking an Operations Manager to lead and manage day to day operations of the Redcar facility including full responsibility for all aspects of the operational process team and maintenance team.
The Operations Manager leads the site in achieving excellence in health and safety, product quality, asset performance; utilisation and sustainability, operational excellence and efficiencies, management and development of human resource to maximise performance.
The Operations Manager has two main accountabilities within the 24 hours, 7 days a week facility:
1) Ensure the plant is operating to its maximum efficiency and capability to meet business KPI’s.
2) Ensure all duties are safely carried out in compliance with the relevant legislation, regulations and guidance notes.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1 Leading daily operations of the business unit
2 Manage overall manufacturing operations capacity and interactions between departments (manufacturing, supply chain‚ planning‚ etc.)
3 Lead improvement plans ensuring the achievement of budgets and overall performance targets through the management team.
4 Lead the operations team to deliver operational excellence ensuring individual and departmental performance targets and KPI’s are met.
5 Achieve and exceed EBITDA target, set out in the monthly P&L, by ensuring revenue targets are achieved and costs are controlled in line with business objectives.
6 Manage human resource to maximise performance, carry out line management functions relating to personnel issues.
The planning horizons involved in this role are varied. Day to day operational issues require immediate decisions, however change management and improvement activities could require 3 months planning and larger development and expansion projects could be in the planning stage for longer than 6 months.
Being commercially and financially astute, with the desire to contribute and fundamentally shape operational strategy and thinking.
Demonstrate the ability of team leadership and managing others, and through this, deliver strong results.
Plan and coordinate the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives.
Establishing and controlling conditions of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications. Participating actively in standardisation, cost reduction, and budget management.
Directing the line managers in the execution of operational strategies and plans.
Organising and directing workflow for satisfying production demands in a cost-efficient manner. Investigating and analysing new products and processes, where feasible.
Developing and motivating improvements to production process.
Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating safe working environment.
Maintaining optimum employment levels through selecting, interviewing, and training of personnel. Liaising with the sales managers on planning and predicting customer orders to satisfy deliveries.
Develop and implement systems for employee involvement, and through the management team, ensure that all employees understand their individual objectives.
Achieve/improve financial targets by managing the manufacturing processes ensuring full utilisation
The post-holder must be able to demonstrate experience of managing within the recycling industry and have a qualification in either Operations or Leadership Management.
Alternatively they should hold a Manufacturing Engineering or Business Degree or equivalent with leadership experience outside of recycling.

• Intermediate Microsoft package IT skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint
• Management level Health & Safety qualification
• Full current car driving licence
• Qualification in performance management
• Degree level or equivalent in Business Administration or Engineering
Experience
• Managing at a senior level
• Achieving clearly defined KPI’s
• Managing multi million pound budgets
• Management of Multi Million pound project start-up
Technical Knowledge
• In-depth knowledge of plastics recycling processes
• Numeracy and ability to understand numerical data
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing methodologies
