Job Title: Project Asbestos Surveyor

Head Office Location: Brindley Place, Birmingham

Job Location: (Chippenham - SN140GU)

Salary - £42,100 with a van per annum

Contract type - Permanent

Working hours - Full Time 37Hrs

About the role

This role will be covering Swindon, Oxford, Cricklade, Royal Wootton Bassett and surrounding areas. At times you will be required to cover other Wiltshire areas.


Conducting Asbestos Surveys: Performing detailed inspections of social housing properties to identify the presence, location, and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs).

Risk Assessment: Assessing the risk posed by identified ACMs, taking into account their condition, location, and the potential for disturbance.

Sampling and Analysis: Collecting samples of suspected ACMs and ensuring they are analysed accurately in a laboratory setting to confirm the presence of asbestos.

Report Preparation: Compiling comprehensive survey reports on TEAMS that detail findings, risk assessments, and recommendations for the management or removal of asbestos.

Compliance and Regulation: Ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation and guidelines, such as the Control of Asbestos Regulations.

Advising on Management Plans: Providing expert advice on the creation and implementation of asbestos management plans to ensure ongoing safety and compliance.

Client Communication: Communicating findings and recommendations clearly to housing managers, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders.

Training and Awareness: Educating housing staff and residents about the dangers of asbestos and safe practices to prevent disturbance.

Health and Safety: Adhering to strict health and safety protocols to protect themselves, residents, and the general public from asbestos exposure.

Continuous Professional Development: Staying updated with the latest industry standards, regulations, and best practices in asbestos management.

About you

Qualification:

Possession of a relevant asbestos surveying qualification, such as the BOHS P402 (Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos) or equivalent.

Experience:

Proven experience conducting asbestos surveys, preferably in a social housing context or similar residential settings.

Knowledge:

Strong understanding of asbestos-related regulations and best practices, particularly the Control of Asbestos Regulations.

Technical Skills:

Ability to identify different types of asbestos-containing materials and understand sampling techniques.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for report writing and liaising with clients and stakeholders.

Attention to Detail:

Meticulous attention to detail to ensure thorough inspection and accurate reporting.

Health and Safety Awareness:

Strong commitment to health and safety protocols to protect themselves and others from asbestos exposure.

Driving License:

A valid driver`s license, as the role often requires traveling between sites.

Desirable Criteria

Additional Qualifications:

Additional certifications such as BOHS P405 (Management of Asbestos in Buildings) or equivalent.

Experience in Social Housing:

Specific experience working within the social housing sector, understanding its unique challenges and requirements.

IT Skills:

Proficiency in using software for data collection and reporting purposes.

Customer Service Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with residents and housing management.

Continuous Learning:

Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with industry changes.
