Our Geoscience team:


Venterra’s Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer unparalleled site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet the comprehensive needs of our clients.


The selected candidate will be employed through Ordtek and will work on-site in our Hethel, Norwich office.


Role Description:


The Senior Geoscience Consultant role will be part of the UXO site operations team, reporting to the Operations Director. This role involves acting as a primary liaison for clients throughout project lifecycles, providing continuous operational support and ensuring the production of high-quality deliverables. The consultant will provide technical advice, manage information and data flow, and play a key role supporting the bidding phase and business development. The ideal candidate will have at least five to seven years of experience of offshore geophysical campaigns, project management experience, a strong understanding of the offshore energy industry, and proven leadership abilities. The position is based in our Hethel, Norwich office, with occasional international travel.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing ongoing operational support.
  • Produce and present geological and technical reports, including project-specific certifications and specifications.
  • Offer technical advice and guidance to the geophysical team, ensuring quality and consistency in deliverables.
  • Assist with technical guidance during the bidding phase.
  • Monitor survey data acquisition and manage quality assurance.
  • Attend client meetings online and in person within the UK and occasionally internationally, maintaining and nurturing relationships through frequent communication.
  • Identify new opportunities, support business development, and pitch services to potential customers.
  • Provide clear leadership and task coordination, including mentoring or developing junior team members.


Expertise Required:


  • At least five to seven years of relevant work experience with large offshore geophysical survey campaigns.
  • Familiarity with the UXO risk management industry, including survey and clearance techniques, is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the offshore energy industry and its needs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in managing and ensuring data quality.
  • Experience in project management or leadership roles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders including clients, team members, and regulatory authorities.
  • Multilingual skills are desirable but not essential.
  • Strong commitment to adhering to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices (familiarity with HSE regulations and ISO 45001 would be advantageous).


Education/Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, or another relevant field.
  • Master’s degree is a related field is desirable.
  • Full Driving License.
  • Willing and able to travel as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English.
