Our client is an international firm of chartered surveyors and property consultants with offices in key locations across the UK and the globe. Established in the 1700’s they are the oldest established firm of Chartered Surveyors in the UK and played an important role during the establishment of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

As part of their growth plan they are looking for an ambitious Building Surveyor to join and lead the growth of their Building Surveying function across Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, Yorkshire and Cumbria.
The role
As our client continues to expand, particularly in the Northern regions, we are seeking an ambitious Associate or Partner-level Building Surveyor to join the growing Newcastle team. This individual will play a key role in developing a Project and Building Consultancy offering in the Newcastle office.
The position will primarily be based in Newcastle, however we are open to a surveyor based in the North East/Yorkshire area or a relocator who has strong connections to the Newcastle market, and is willing to spend a few days a week in the Newcastle office.
The role will encompass a strong focus on traditional building surveying duties across various sectors, including a comprehensive range of professional work on diverse client accounts in both commercial and residential properties.
Responsibilities include;
- Actively participate in enhancing team effectiveness while providing support to colleagues
- Foster team development, including the recruitment of new personnel to support growth
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities both within and outside your discipline
- Become an integral part of the Newcastle office to establish new service lines
- Collaborate with regional teams to strengthen existing client relationships
- Develop existing client relationships and secure new business to generate revenue
- Engage in a diverse range of projects
- Oversee assignments or sections of significant projects
- Contribute to the development of initiatives aimed at increasing profitability
You will be heavily supported and given realistic targets for growth and will be rewarded with bonuses and career progression as you grow the business unit, expand existing accounts and bring on new clients.
You will have the backing of an agile, growing business with a real appetite for growth and heavy investment in the Building Surveying function across the region.
The candidate
Along with a professional, confident and friendly manner the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a consultancy environment and demonstrate a positive proactive approach to business development. They will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.
- Educated to degree level
- MRICS + several years post qualification experience
- Previous experience working in a multi-disciplinary firm
- Exceptional business development abilities and established relationships with key clients
- Proven history of delivering exceptional results and a track record of success in the building consultancy field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical and complex subjects clearly and concisely to clients
- Effective presentation skills and experience in direct client-facing roles
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a client-focused team
- Extensive technical competence across the entire spectrum of building consultancy services
- Driving licence and own transport
