Job Description

OCU Group continues through 2024 with its significant growth. As part of this, we now have a new opportunity for an experienced Senior Site Agent to join OCU Northavon (Part of the wider OCU Group) based in Taunton working on highways, infrastructure and civil engineering schemes.


Role Overview

The Senior Site Agent plays a pivotal role in overseeing construction projects, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, highways, civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management: Manage all aspects of construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Site Supervision: Oversee day-to-day operations at construction sites, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and health and safety regulations.

Team Leadership: Lead and motivate site personnel, including subcontractors, tradespeople, and site staff, to ensure productivity and performance meet project requirements.

Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, addressing concerns, and managing expectations.

Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure workmanship, materials, and construction methods meet project specifications and industry standards.

Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices, conducting regular site inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Cost Management: Monitor project expenses, track costs, and identify opportunities to control expenditure and maximize cost efficiency.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with construction activities, develop risk mitigation strategies, and take proactive measures to minimize project risks.

Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, construction logs, change orders, and correspondence with stakeholders.

Problem-solving: Address any issues or obstacles that arise during construction, utilizing problem-solving skills and sound judgment to resolve conflicts and keep the project on track.

Skills and Experience

Experience: Significant experience in construction management or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully managing construction projects of varying sizes and complexities.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, and materials, as well as familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve project goals while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and site personnel.

Organizational Abilities: Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Problem-solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement practical solutions.

Qualifications: A relevant degree or professional qualification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is typically required. Professional certifications, such as Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) membership, may be advantageous.

Computer Literacy: Proficiency in project management software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, is often required for planning, scheduling, and document management purposes.

Health and Safety Certification: Certification in health and safety management, such as NEBOSH or IOSH, is usually required to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Driving License: A valid driving license may be necessary, depending on the project location and the need to travel between sites or to attend meetings with clients and stakeholders.
