Location Warton/Samlesbury (Lancashire)


Start Date 23rd June 2025


BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Summer Intern programme you will be required to attend your site 3-4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.


Salary £23,100 Pro Rata

What you will be doing


As a Summer Intern on a 12 week placement, you will gain an insight into one of the different Engineering disciplines, such as Aerodynamics, Design, Materials, Electromagnetics, Structures, Integration, Airworthiness, Support, Mission Systems, Information Systems, Test Engineering and Flight Systems.


This placement will provide the perfect package of experience for a passionate Intern looking to gain valuable skills and an insight into a worldwide defence organisation. There is also the possibility of returning on to the Accelerate Graduate programme based on a recommendation from your placement manager, your performance, aspirations and Graduate Programme potential.


Duties and Responsibilities


• Develop an understanding of the discipline and contribute to the daily tasks within the team.

• Broaden your knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and where your discipline supports the overall delivery of a product/service.

• Communicate with team members and various stakeholders with professionalism and start to build up a network of contacts.

• Engage in all activities with enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to towards the task at hand.

• Maintain a safe working practice at all times.


Skills


As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. All subjects considered.


To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any STEM subject.
