Digital Demand and Planning Consultant (Job Share)
Job Location
Job Description
This role is a job-share with a reduced working pattern of 21hrs per week (Weds-Fri)
Our website and Digital Brochureware on our App and Internet Bank are some of the most important entry points to our brand – they have a critical role to play in engaging our customers, explaining why we are different to the high street banks, driving people to our key services such as mobile and internet banking, aiding them to consider and apply to our range of products and providing help and support.
The teams within Digital Platforms and SEO are focused on continually improving these experiences for our customers through both transformation and optimisation activity, trying to attract more people to our website (both new and existing customers) and encouraging more of them to complete more interactions online with us. For us to be able to prioritise work efficiently and effectively to have the most impact against our strategic scorecard, we need to understand all of the tasks that we have across the team and how long they will take to complete.
We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Digital Demand and Planning Consultant to work across the entire Digital Platforms and SEO team. You’ll be responsible for understanding the demand that’s coming into our squads – either from other parts of the business (currently through out RF process) or by self-generated demand within the squad to drive towards our scorecard metrics.
You’ll facilitate the conversations around helping to size the work and the resource profile and capacity available and ensuring that we’re working as efficiently and effectively as possible. You’ll report on our capacity and delivery profile, along with any variances (using story points and our Jira Tooling to help you) and ensure that we have consistent ways of working and reporting when it comes to demand across the different squads.
We’re currently going through a period of exciting change within the Digital Platforms and SEO team, creating a new digital strategy, balanced scorecard, and way of working within our
Customer, Brand and Engagement division. You’ll be working with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure that our work delivers business value, but does so in a way that balances our regulatory requirements, propositions, commercial and consumer benefits.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our Swindon office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll be working within the Digital Operations team within Digital Platforms and SEO.

- Highlighting pinch points, and aiding to identify where other squads may be able to take on high priority work where required.
- Ensuring the balance of work between mandatory changes (to support society wide or regulatory activity) vs self generated demand that supports scorecard deliveries and improvements.
- Facilitating the progression of work through our processes to complete and close off work, aligning with audit processes.
- Facilitating squad ceremonies to ensure that squads work in a common approach across the team.
- Identifying and highlighting dependencies on other teams where their inputs or outputs are required in order to ensure elements are delivered on time.
- Defining the steps that different types of work need to follow and working with stakeholders to understand the plan that a piece of work will take along with the rationale as to why the steps are important to follow to drive the desired outcomes.
About you

- Experience managing demand and planning in a large, complex digital team.
- Honed experience in using planning tooling such as Jira to create reporting to help horizon scan for capacity and demand pinch points.

Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together. You can strengthen your application by showing the behaviours that resonate with you, and how you might have already demonstrated these.

What makes us different
Nationwide is the world’s largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK’s population. We’ve got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we’re not a bank.
As a building society, we’re owned by our members – that’s our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose – Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.
When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You’ll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You’ll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don’t have to bank with a bank.
