Job title: Senior Information Assurance Engineer
Location: Warton – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £47,683 + depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Establish and maintain a strong technical understanding of all applicable corporate, customer and industry Cyber Security Standards
- Develop and maintain all accreditation and assurance material necessary to gain authority/approval to operate
- Undertake regular compliance confirmation audits and vulnerability assessments
- Analyse assessment results, any new or emerging residual risks and provide remedial recommendations to the wider engineering teams
- Agree to and work to timescales, clearly understanding and providing regular feedback of progress and achievement
- Communicate effectively both within the team and to the engineering manager, identifying early potential risks, seeking clarification and direction
- Ensure that a good working knowledge of Aircrew Training Simulation Systems related product deliverables is maintained and that an awareness of interface points and dependencies within the wider team is established
- Understand and comply with BAE Systems Warton policies on security, IT facilities, operating procedures, absence and attendance, staff job time recording, health and safety and business ethics
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Hold a degree in a STEM subject or demonstrate equivalent relevant experience. This may include professional qualifications in related toolsets
- Experience within the cyber security domain and familiarity with applicable standards and processes e.g. NIST, JSP’s, RMADS, SyOPs and Secure by Design principles
- The ability to work diligently as part of a large and complex organisation, able to manage and motivate a small team, as well as having a positive attitude towards continuous improvement and development of our people, processes and technology
Desirable:
- Experience of managing and assuring medium to large scale enterprise IT or Operational Technology based systems would be beneficial
- The ability to articulate information at different levels of detail for different audiences is highly desirable
- Certifications such as SSCP, CISSP, CCsm

The Synthetic Training, Computing Infrastructure and Deployment (CID) team:
An exciting opportunity exists for an ambitious and self-confident Systems Engineer within the Synthetic Training, Computing Infrastructure and Deployment (CID) Team to take a lead role in Cyber Security Compliance and Information Assurance of the training devices. The role requires a proactive approach to Product Security. This includes ensuring both engagement with new standards and wider industry norms but also regular compliance confirmation and assurance reviews for existing systems. The scope of responsibility includes assurance of development and reference capabilities at Warton but also delivering and supporting RAF bases in Coninsgby and Lossiemouth as well as our export customers in Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
