Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join our client a leading modular construction specialist in West Yorkshire.
As Estimator you will be responsible for preparing and coordinating the preparation of full building services estimates on all types and sizes of projects as required by client’s documents.
Responsibilities as Estimator:
- Attend Tender Launches.
- Create an Electronic Tender Folder within the server.
- Analyse tender drawings, specifications, Room Data Sheets and other documentation to assist when preparing cost estimates, contractor proposal’s and setting project budgets.
- Liaise with clients to resolve any quires / RFI regarding the tender.
- Liaise with technical to obtain design information in order to correctly price in line with the layout required.
- Assessing the levels of risk on a tender and/or project.
- Evaluate a product’s cost effectiveness and/or profitability.
- Consult with industry experts to discuss tenders and/or projects and resolve any issues.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, monitoring and chasing responses ensuring best prices are procured from 3 separate wholesalers.
- Attend and chair various meetings to meet the requirements of tenders.
- Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities.
- Compile costings and contractor proposal’s for tenders by assessing the material, labour and equipment required and analysing different quotes received from sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Attend internal adjudication meetings for tenders.
- Record submissions on a tracker to ensure a record is kept of all the bids submitted.
- Setting out of material lists at tender stage for ease of ordering for associated projects.
- Ensure costing spreadsheets and wording within the contractor proposals are accurate and kept up to date.
- Liaise with the Procurement Manager & representatives of materials to ensure best support and to improve/keep up to date with new products.
- Launch / Handover Between Estimating & Pre-Construction. (Defining the allowance and any assumption made during tender)
- Launch / Handover Between Estimating & Commercial. (Defining the allowance / assumption made during tender)
- Input allowances made during tender stage onto project analysis tracker for each project
Requirements as Estimator:
- Experience in modern methods of construction (MMC) or other forms of temporary buildings/antivandal or associated products
- Production Line Manufacturing
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products [Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint], and estimating software.
- Capability to produce any order of magnitude estimate
- Understands cost based risk analysis
