Compliance & Trade Control Analyst - Energy Trading

Our leading energy trading client is looking for a Compliance & Trade Control Analyst to join their London Middle Office (MO) team. The team plays a key role in the company’s control framework around LNG trading and shipping.


The main activities covered by Middle Office are:

  • trade control, assuring that executed transactions have been entered into the system of record (ENDUR) in a timely and accurate manner by Front Office;
  • trading compliance (EMIR/Remit/etc.)
  • settlement
  • daily P&L and exposure reporting and analysis
  • support new business implementations.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

Compliance and Trade Control Analyst will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of regulatory policies and manage regulatory reporting requirements for new trading initiatives.

The role will ensure that the compliance reporting for EMIR/REMIT/Terminal is performed in a timely and accurate way. The role will also require involvement in supporting trade control activity on executed transactions in the markets (LNG/Shipping/Financial) for correctness and completeness of the deal booking in the ETRM system.

The position requires an excellent team player who will be expected to work confidently with other functions across the Company, applying a professional approach to problem solving and contribution to key assignments.


COMPLIANCE & TRADE CONTROL KNOWLEDGE:

The candidate will have a relevant experience in the EU energy markets compliance (EMIR/REMIT) and the willingness to expand their knowledge to trade control and settlement activities. An analytical background will be preferable as well as a good knowledge of Excel.

The candidate will possess a good understanding of EU/UK physical and financial gas markets, LNG markets is a plus, with a relevant experience in a similar compliance role. Familiarity with deal booking and ETRM systems is desirable.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Analyse and manage new regulatory reporting requirements for physical and financial gas/LNG EU markets;
  • Liaise with IT to keep compliance reporting technical tools updated and in line with market best practice;
  • Report in a timely and accurate manner financial and physical trades subject to UK/EU regulations (i.e. Emir, Remit, etc.);
  • Support deal booking validation process (correctness and completeness);
  • Confirm financial deals with external counterparties;
  • Perform settlement price calculation.


QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):

Education and Certifications: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.


Experience:

  • Minimum of two/three years of relevant experience in EU/UK energy markets compliance, preferably in a Middle or Back Office department;
  • Experience with financial and physical gas transactions booking and related pricing structure;
  • Familiarity in confirmation and settlement processes.
  • Endur (OpenLink) ETRM System experience is a plus.
