Legal Counsel

My client is seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join their Insurance Business. They are one of the top performing Lloyd’s Market Syndicates, with a great collaborative environment.

About the Role:

This person would work closely with senior legal leadership to oversee and provide advice on all commercial contracts. This role offers broad exposure and is ideal for someone looking to advance their career within the insurance sector or transition from private practice to an in-house role within a dynamic, high-performing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Review and advise on all commercial contracts involving the company
• Provide guidance on appropriate terms and conditions for contracts
• Offer legal advice on data protection matters
• Assist in developing and maintaining standard contractual clauses
• Collaborate with the company’s outsourcing manager on external relationships
• Support senior legal leadership with corporate governance matters
• Monitor and evaluate legal developments that may impact the company

Qualifications:

Minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial private practice or an in-house role

Required Skills:

• Strong understanding of commercial contractual issues
• Experience providing legal advice on data protection
• Willingness to develop expertise in corporate governance (prior experience not required)

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with the insurance industry is preferred but not essential
