Job Description

Our longstanding client is looking for an experienced Real Estate Finance Secretary or Paralegal to join their dynamic commercial property team.

The property team acts on behalf of a range of clients, including property development and investment companies, banks and other financial institutions.

The role:

  • Instigation of matter opening process, and issue of initial enquiries

  • Obtaining and/or reviewing property searches

  • Reviewing property due diligence and preparing draft reports on title for review by senior lawyers in the team

  • Preparing suites of banking documentation including legal charges, guarantees, directors’ certificates and corporate authorisations using pre-approved templates

  • Maintaining good file management, electronic storage, archiving and filing, including the creation and ongoing administration of data rooms

  • Creation, running and managing satisfaction of CP Lists

  • Liaising with clients, other team members and third-party solicitors on a daily basis in order to drive transactions forward and ensure that all parties are kept updated

  • Issuing and tracking completion of agreed form documents via DocuSign

  • Managing the completion process, including management of funds flow and the redemption process, where applicable

  • Responsibility for all post-completion matters, including completion of registration at Companies House and the Land Registry, dealing with any requisitions, and dealing with any post-completion requirements of the client.

Applicants will need experience in most of the above and will probably be working as a Real Estate Finance Paralegal or a very organised Legal Secretary, who also has some exposure to property finance work..

The role might suit an experienced legal secretary, who is looking to become more involved with clients on the commercial property side. Again experience and understanding of most of the above is required.

The successful applicant will liaise directly with the firm's clients, including banks and other lenders, meaning you must be comfortable with this aspect of the role.

The role is ideally full-time and office based in Hertfordshire. There may be the opportunity to work part-time, should any exceptional candidate require it, but this would be a minimum of 4 days a week.

In addition, flexible working is also a possibility. Again, this is likely to represent perhaps one day working from home. Broadly speaking it's important that the post holder is in the office for the majority of the working week and until 5pm, especially on Fridays, when many transactions are concluded.

The firm offers a very generous package and the salary for this role is likely to be in the £40-50K bracket.

This is a great opportunity to work alongside dynamic property partners with an impressive London client base. It's a small, collegiate and supportive team.
