Job Description

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Hessle, is currently looking to recruit a Corporate Project Officer for a 12 month fixed term contract on a salary of £37,336/annum. This role will be hybrid working with 3 days per week onsite.


Responsibilities:


- Plan and oversee project development across the organisation, ensuring project leads and sections carry out the project work efficiently and productively.

- Develop and maintain a project management framework and governance structure for the organisation’s project management operations to function under.

- Plan specific and/or complex workstreams within a project, taking into account task length, sequencing and dependencies, in order to produce realistic project plans and Gantt charts.

- Support a range of workstreams within the programme or project and identify key milestones, allowing workstreams to be monitored.

- Mitigate project management issues and challenges. Where slippage occurs, make proposals to rectify the issue and adjust the plan as required.

- Set up meetings, schedule tasks and manage resources as required to plan, develop and implement the projects.

- Monitor and report on projects progress, budget and resources to Strategic and Corporate management.

- Quality assure projects to ensure they meet requisite standards, adhere to budgets, and meet deadlines. Set measurable outcomes and metrics

- Following project closure, evaluate conclusion against project scope, outcomes and metrics.

- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders

- Update and maintain project records and documentation, including project creation, development, and execution as well as the project’s scope, budget, justification and outcome measures.

- Ensures robust and comprehensive administration processes are in place to facilitate efficient management of the programme/project and oversee their operation.

- May be required to perform other duties that reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.


Essential Skills:


- Concurrent management of different projects

- Record of achieving project aims and measurable outcomes.

- Leadership in the organisation, delivery, and evaluation of projects

- Management of defined pieces of project work including Planning including project scope, Contract management, Stakeholder management, monitoring essential tasks and taking appropriate action, meeting deadlines, using project software and systems including Microsoft 365 applications and Report writing

- Key skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 or GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English grade C or above

- Project management & / or related qualification

- Project Governance

- Budget and resource management

- Communication strategies

- Business case development and application

- Able to type and input data accurately and efficiently.

- Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people.

- Able to negotiate, motivate or persuade people to follow a course of action.

- Able to time manage, prioritise workloads and organise effectively.

- Able to take decisions within the scope of the role and escalate as appropriate.

- Risk and opportunity management.

- Quality assurance and controls

- Adherence and application of the Core Code of Ethics at all times.

- Self-confidence and self-awareness combined with a personal drive for measurable results and continuous improvement.

- Comfortable when working alone and on own initiative and when working in a large group environment and as part of a team.

- Flexible in adjusting to changing demands and working to strict deadlines.

- Adaptable to relate and respond to viewpoints of a variety of stakeholders.

- Demonstrate a clear commitment towards productivity and improving performance

- Flexibility to adjust working times to meet organisational needs.

- Willingness to develop skills in line with future knowledge and skills requirements of the role

- Able to travel to other locations if required.


Desirable Skills:


- Experience of working in the public sector

- Experience of working in a Programme or Project Office

- Experience of organising meetings/ conferences/ workshops

- Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent level knowledge

- Willing to undertake Project Management Certification

- Experience of supervising staff

- Experience of using Microsoft Project
