Jumbo - Senior Backend Developer - Node.js/Express.js

About the Role : As a Backend Engineer and member of the founding team at Jumbo, you'll be instrumental in building, optimizing, and maintaining robust backend systems. Your role will focus on API development, data model optimization, and cloud-based solutions. Responsibilities : - Work closely with product and business teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions through rapid experimentation - Lead and mentor junior engineers - Architect and implement back-end services ensuring high reliability and scalability - Design, test, evaluate, and build new features, while improving existing ones - Lead the transition to a micro-services architecture - Define and uphold data architecture, software design, coding standards, and security practices - Implement end-to-end testing frameworks for core platform services - Oversee cloud infrastructure and deployments - Work with mobile team to ensure seamless end-to-end system functionality - Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical documentation Requirements : - 3 years of experience in building large-scale gaming/consumer transactional products. - Strong in problem-solving skills, data structures, and algorithms. - Very good understanding of one or more of RDBMS/NoSQL/Messaging/Caching technologies. - Excellent understanding of Node.js & Express Required Tech Stack : - Nestjs (Nodejs/Express) - Typescript - AWS, Digitalocean cloud - PostgreSQL, MongoDB & Redis - Apache Kafka (ref:hirist.tech)
