Salary: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience)

The Role:
So, what will you be doing as an Electrical Design Engineer?
* Develop Control Specifications: Write control specifications for new products or modifications to existing products, ensuring alignment with product goals and customer requirements.
* Electrical Circuit Design: Design electrical circuits for the development and production of laser wire processing machines and other new products using ePLAN electrical design software (or similar platforms).
* Documentation & Parts Lists: Generate detailed build documentation and parts lists, enabling the purchasing and production departments to efficiently order components and assemble machines.
* Commissioning Procedures: Create commissioning procedures to streamline the transition of products from development to production and service teams.
* Collaborate with Stakeholders: Liaise with end users, contractors, and sub-contractors to ensure the correct design, testing, and installation of systems.
* Problem Investigation: Participate in investigating system issues arising from testing, customer acceptance, or operational use, providing timely solutions.
* Supplier Interface: Engage with electrical suppliers to identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality standards.
* Design Standards Contribution: Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical and mechanical drawing design standards.
* Compliance with Standards: Stay updated on relevant standards for electrical control systems, including EN60204, ISO 13849, and EN12100, ensuring all designs comply with the latest regulations.
Dynamic System Design: Understand the specific requirements of wire processing systems and design innovative solutions to meet dynamic performance and safety needs.
What are we looking for in our next Electrical Design Engineer?
* Qualified to a minimum of HND or preferably degree level in Electrical Engineering.
* Electrical / controls / automation engineering background designing and developing complex machinery or systems
* Experience in the full product life cycle from initial specification through development, build, test, deployment and support.
* New product introduction: design, build, commission and test.
* Electrical Machine / Control Panel Design with reference to risk assessment and applicable safety standards like 12100, 60204 and 13849.
* Electrical drawing package experience (preferably ePLAN).
* Electrical Machine Design for build and procurement – parts list, wire schedules, cable schedules etc.
* Application of Servo Amplifier / Stepper Drive Systems and DC / AC Drive systems.
* Specification of sensor types including proximity sensors, through beam etc.
* Creation of Controls Specifications – Functional Design Specification / IO Specification.
* Advantageous but not essential if have experience of PLC programming, robotics and vision systems, practical experience of electrical builds and use of diagnostic tools.
